Cristiano Ronaldo married Georgina Rodríguez in a private ceremony at their home in Cascais, Portugal, on Aug. 11, exactly 10 years after they first met in a Gucci store in Madrid, according to interviews published Sunday by *Vogue* .
The 41-year-old forward told *Vogue* that the 2026–27 season is likely to be his last as a professional footballer. “This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Ronaldo said . He has one year remaining on his contract with Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr, where he watched the season opener from the stands on Aug. 15 after not being included in the squad .
The wedding took place in the couple’s living room, with their five children as the central figures, Rodríguez told *Vogue*. After the ceremony, they traveled to the Fátima sanctuary, where a priest blessed them in a private chapel . The couple opted against a high-profile event despite weeks of media speculation, including reports that the ceremony would be held at Funchal Cathedral on Ronaldo’s birth island of Madeira, where crowds gathered only to find another wedding taking place .
Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has scored 976 goals for club and country and is 24 short of reaching 1,000 career goals . He said he has mapped out his future beyond football, including more travel, playing padel, and enjoying time with family. “I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one,” he said .
*Vogue* published exclusive photographs of the wedding, shot by Juergen Teller, alongside the interview . The couple said they plan to hold a larger celebration at a later date .
