Innsbruck prosecutors have opened an investigation into a dismissed teacher at a Tyrolean gymnasium for allegedly abusing his authority over an underage student.

The teacher was initially suspended and later dismissed, according to the education directorate. A spokesperson for the Austrian Press Agency (APA) confirmed the investigation to ORF Tirol. The alleged acts involved consensual sexual contact with a student who was over 14 but under 18.

Prosecutors accuse the man of abusing an authority relationship under Paragraph 212 of the Austrian Criminal Code. The charge alleges he exploited his position and the authority it conferred over the minor student.
