Russia’s Central Election Commission confirmed on Friday that United Russia, the ruling party of President Vladimir Putin, secured a record 349 of 450 seats in the State Duma following the country’s first wartime parliamentary elections, held Sept. 18–20.
Commission Chairwoman Ella Pamfilova announced the final results, marking the party’s highest-ever seat count and surpassing its 2016 record of 343. Opposition parties critical of the war, such as Yabloko, were barred from national participation, while nominally opposition factions aligned with the Kremlin secured the remaining seats.
