EU industry ministers approve trade measures for Armenia at Brussels competitiveness meeting
EU industry ministers gathered in Brussels on Friday for the Competitiveness Council meeting to address economic challenges, including high energy costs, regulatory hurdles, and the integration of artificial intelligence. Discussions centered on boosting industrial renewal, advancing the European Chips Act 2.0, and reviewing merger-control guidelines to ensure market adaptability while preventing anti-competitive practices.
The meeting also evaluated proposals for the European Competitiveness Fund and addressed economic security and industrial policy to strengthen the bloc’s position in global markets. Ministers emphasized simplifying administrative processes to foster innovation and maintain the operational viability of key industrial sectors across member states.
Additionally, the council formally approved autonomous trade measures for Armenian goods, granting trade concessions designed to support Armenia’s economic stability. The decision aligns with the bloc’s ongoing diplomatic and economic commitments in neighboring regions, providing formal backing through adjusted tariff frameworks.
