A 25-year-old man was arrested in Portimão on Friday after attempting to take a driving test on behalf of another person, Portuguese police announced on Saturday. The suspect was detained by the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) for allegedly falsifying documents and using another person’s identification, according to a statement from the agency .

The case emerged during a routine traffic stop in Albufeira on Friday, when GNR officers conducting a random check stopped a vehicle carrying the suspect and a 42-year-old woman, who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. Authorities did not disclose further details about the woman’s alleged involvement in the drug trade .

In Cyprus, a third suspect was arrested on Friday in connection with the seizure of 6.05 kilograms of dried poppy bulbs found in postal packages in the Famagusta district. The 22-year-old man was detained by the Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) as part of an ongoing investigation into the importation of the controlled substance. Two other men had already been remanded in custody earlier in the week .

Meanwhile, in Bistrița, Romania, police used a drone to locate and arrest a 35-year-old Romanian national wanted internationally for drug trafficking. The man was found relaxing in an inflatable pool on the terrace of his apartment when officers intervened. German authorities had issued an international arrest warrant for the suspect, who was residing in Germany before his arrest .

In Sweden, a 30-year-old man who claimed he had ingested cocaine through a kiss was convicted of driving under the influence after police stopped him and found the drug in his bloodstream. The Östersunds-Posten reported that the suspect’s unusual defense did not sway the court .

In Romania’s Constanța region, Daniel Dumitru Learciu, executive director of the Rural Investment Financing Agency (AFIR), was remanded in custody for 30 days on Saturday. He is accused of repeatedly buying influence by transferring approximately €110,000 and other assets to a senior prosecutor in exchange for favorable treatment in procurement processes .
