Ukraine protests enter fourth day as Zelensky weighs sacking armed forces chief Syrsky

The conflict between Fedorov and Syrsky over the direction of the war has been a significant factor in the current crisis. Fedorov, who advocates for a drone revolution in the military, has clashed with Syrsky, who is seen by some as representing the old school of Ukrainian commanders.
In the meantime, the war in Ukraine continues to escalate. Satellite images have confirmed the destruction of another Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber, and videos have emerged showing Ukrainian attacks on a tanker and a Russian strike on a grain-carrying ship.
Internationally, Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas has warned that Russia, unable to achieve victory in Ukraine, may be looking at new targets in the Baltic region and Poland. According to Kaunas, the Kremlin is seeking an alternative path to victory and sees these regions as potential targets. This assessment is based on intelligence reports.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has suggested that Russia could stage a false-flag operation using Ukrainian-made drones. Meanwhile, Chief of Defense of Lithuania General Raimundas Vaikšnoras has stated that while there is no obvious threat of conventional Russian military aggression against Lithuania or other Baltic states, provocations involving the use of military means cannot be ruled out.
The president has been holding meetings with senior military officers, including Deputy Chief of the General Staff Volodymyr Horbatiuk and Commander of the Joint Forces Mykhailo Drapatyi.
In response to the protests and the growing pressure, Zelensky has not yet made a final decision on Syrsky’s future. However, sources indicate that a decision is expected soon. The president's office has not commented on the reports of Syrsky’s potential dismissal.
The protests in Kyiv and other cities continue, with organizers giving Zelensky until Friday to make a decision on Syrsky’s future.
Meanwhile, the war in Ukraine shows no signs of abating. The destruction of another Russian Tu-95 strategic bomber and ongoing combat along the front lines highlight the continued intensity of the conflict.
