Studentska lista won Serbia’s snap parliamentary election on Sunday with 52.65 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Republic Election Commission, securing an absolute majority in the 250-seat National Assembly.
The coalition led by the Serbian Progressive Party, “United Serbia,” received 39.22 percent, giving it roughly 104 seats. Final projections by CeSID confirmed six lists will enter parliament, including Studentska lista, SNS, and four minority lists.
The National Assembly must be constituted within 30 days of the final results being declared. The Republic Election Commission has 96 hours from receiving all local reports to publish the official results, after which it allocates mandates to candidates based on their list order. The first session, called by the previous assembly’s speaker, Ana Brnabić, will confirm mandates and elect a new speaker and deputies.
Once the assembly is constituted, the government formation process begins, with a 90-day deadline to elect a new prime minister and cabinet. The president, currently a role held by Brnabić in an interim capacity, will propose a candidate for prime minister after consulting the elected lists. The candidate must present a government program and composition, which the assembly will vote on simultaneously; a majority of all 250 seats is required for approval.
