The new editorial board of Serbia’s public broadcaster RTS issued a public apology to viewers on Thursday, calling it the “first measure of recovery” for the station’s news programming.

In a statement read during the evening *Dnevnik 2* broadcast, the board said it aimed to restore public trust by reforming content in the public interest. The apology followed a wave of leadership changes: acting news director Borivoje Uskoković dismissed eight editors, including those overseeing correspondents, regional coverage, the investigative program *Oko*, the website, diaspora reporting, and the flagship 19:30 *Dnevnik* bulletin .

The reshuffle came after RTS director Manja Grčić resigned on Wednesday, a day after the Student List—victorious in the 25 October parliamentary election—demanded her removal alongside that of news chief Bojana Mlađenović. Students occupying RTS facilities rejected the apology, insisting on further resignations, including that of deputy general director Dejan Jovanović .

The Student List had previously accused RTS of biased coverage, citing systematic misrepresentation of their movement and servility to the former government. Their demands included a temporary administration agreed with RTS unions to ensure legal compliance and editorial independence .
