A partial re-vote in Serbia’s parliamentary elections on Sunday altered the distribution of seats, handing a parliamentary mandate to the Justice and Reconciliation Party (SPP) led by Usame Zukorlić.
The Republic Electoral Commission ordered the re-vote at 53 polling stations—31 where results from the 25 October election could not be verified and 22 where voting was annulled. Turnout reached 44.9% by the close of polls at 20:00, according to the CRTA monitoring mission .
CRTA reported that the SPP list secured a single seat, while the Student List lost one, reducing its total to 140. Aleksandar Vučić’s Ujedinjena Srbija retained 103 seats, with two seats each for the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians, the Albanian Coalition, Rasim Ljajić’s Ljudski, and the SDA Sandžak . The SPP’s mandate was decided by a margin of just 12 votes, CRTA noted, adding that observers recorded allegations of vote-buying in favor of the SPP .
Zukorlić confirmed his party had won over 300 votes in the re-vote, securing its place in the National Assembly .
The re-vote covered stations in 24 municipalities, including Bačka Topola, where Ujedinjena Srbija and the Student List finished nearly tied, with 34.70% and 34.27% respectively . In Subotica, the Student List maintained a lead with 51.05% after the re-vote, while Ujedinjena Srbija took 34.57% .
