At least five people were killed and 10 injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on a Wildberries warehouse in the Moscow region early on Aug. 4, according to Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov. The strike in the industrial zone of Novoselki sparked several fires, with the largest at a warehouse that was later extinguished .
Ukrainian forces also targeted Wildberries facilities in the Tver and St. Petersburg regions, part of a broader campaign against the retailer’s logistics network. Robert Brovdi, commander of Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces, said Ukrainian drones had attacked 15 Wildberries warehouses over the past 18 days, destroying 13 of them .
Separately, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned what he called a Russian “drone safari” after footage emerged of a drone pursuing and wounding a civilian market vendor in Kherson. The video, released by Ukrainian police, shows the drone chasing a man in his 50s around a van used as a street stand before detonating as he dives for cover. The vendor survived but suffered shrapnel injuries and shock, police said . Zelensky said the incident proved Russia’s soldiers “take pleasure in killing and abusing civilians” and called for international pressure to dismantle Russia’s capacity for aggression .
Ukraine’s SBU security service reported over 300 sabotage and terrorist acts by Russian forces this year and launched a campaign warning citizens about recruitment tactics by Russian special services, which it said often use psychological manipulation via social media and messaging apps .
Meanwhile, Russian attacks on Ukraine killed at least seven people and injured 123 over the past day, including an 89-year-old woman in Mykolaiv and seven others, among them children, according to regional authorities . In Crimea, a Russian serviceman opened fire in the village of Khmelnytske, killing four people and wounding four others, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said .
Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer, has called the repeated strikes on its facilities “acts of terrorism” . Ukrainian officials have stated the retailer aids the war effort by supplying goods with military applications.
