Fabio Silva’s 89th-minute strike earned Borussia Dortmund a 2-2 draw at Bayern Munich after Harry Kane missed a penalty in a frantic Bundesliga clash on Saturday.
Bayern dominated early, with Michael Olise hitting the post in the 10th minute before Konrad Laimer opened the scoring in the 38th after a defensive error. Dortmund thought they had equalized through Jobe Bellingham in the 34th, but the goal was ruled out for offside after a VAR review. Serhou Guirassy leveled at 1-1 in the 60th minute, capitalizing on a Kane turnover.
Kane, playing his first match as a Ballon d’Or winner, then missed a 56th-minute penalty, striking the crossbar. Dayot Upamecano restored Bayern’s lead in the 66th, heading in from Kane’s assist. Silva, a substitute, salvaged a point for Dortmund with a low drive from the edge of the box.
Bayern’s injury woes deepened as Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry were forced off in the first half, with Olise also limping off late. Interim coach Aaron Danks managed the side in Vincent Kompany’s absence, as the Belgian recovers from meningitis.
“It was eye-to-eye,” said Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel. Captain Nico Schlotterbeck added, “If we keep playing like this, I’m confident we can keep the title race open for a long time.” Bayern’s Laimer admitted, “We had enough chances to score more. In the end, 2-2 feels better for them than for us.”
The result leaves both sides tied at the Bundesliga summit. Bayern hit the woodwork three times, including Kane’s 75th-minute effort, while Dortmund’s resilience underscored their growing stability.
