Norway’s tourism board responded with toilet humor after US President Donald Trump called the country a “shithouse country” for not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize.

Trump made the remark on Sunday during a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, days before the US midterm elections. He linked his frustration to the Nobel committee in Oslo not selecting him, adding he would not welcome Norwegian immigrants to the United States.

Visit Norway, the country’s official tourism organization, posted a response on social media on Tuesday. “We heard some noise about the ‘s+++house country’,” it wrote. “Well, what we can say, we do have some of the most spectacular toilets in the world. With Love, Visit Norway.” The post included images of scenic public toilets, including one at the foot of a hill with a view of a fjord.

The organization also directed followers to a list of “the world’s most beautiful toilets” on its website, highlighting facilities with panoramic views of rivers and mountains.

Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide addressed Trump’s comments by reiterating the independence of the Nobel Committee. “He knows very well that the Nobel Committee is independent,” Eide told broadcaster NRK. “We have reminded him of that, and if anyone has questions, that is still the case.”

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to South African jurist Navi Pillay, a former UN human rights chief and International Criminal Court judge. Trump had previously criticized the selection as “shameful and disgraceful.”
